A DUNS number, or Data Universal Numbering System number, is a unique nine-digit identifier for businesses:

How to Obtain a D-U-N-S Number with Dun and Bradstreet

Step 1: Visit the Dun & Bradstreet website
Head over to dnb.com
- Click on Get a D-U-N-S Number, or just follow this link
- If you think you already have a DUNS, use the DUNS lookup tool here
Step 2: Choose the option that best fits your company
For most people, this will be "I have a US-based business."
Step 3: Fill out the application form
- Enter your zip code & business name
- Select the free DUNS package
- Create your account, verify your email, and select a password
- Fill out the D-U-N-S Number Application with your business name, address, and other relevant details
Step 4: Submit Business Docs
Have two business documents ready:
- Dun & Bradstreet will accept any of the following document types for business verification processing. Uploading two documents from this list is recommended.
- EIN / TIN Confirmation Letter
- Articles of Incorporation:
- Certificate of Amendment of Articles of Incorporation
- Secretary of State Approved Business Registration
- Secretary of State Certificate of Filing
- Proof of a business phone service
- Proof of a utility bill in your company's name
Step 5: Submit! Await confirmation and processing
After submitting your application, you will need to wait for Dun & Bradstreet to process your request. The processing time may vary, but you can expect to receive a confirmation email or letter from Dun & Bradstreet containing your assigned D-U-N-S Number.

Step 6: Log in to check if you have received it
They might or might not notify you when it's received - so it's important to log in to check. If you have submitted online, the process can take up to 30 days, but if you call, you should receive it in 48 hours. Once you have received it, you can complete your registration into the Apple & Google Play Developer Programs.
